Display
Moving on to the leading of the phone, we have a sizable display on the unit, a 20:9 Ultra FullView panel. The panel is a 6.44-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 100 DCIP-3 color gamut in terms of the specs.
In terms of performance, the display impresses around it does when it comes to looks. Vivo did an excellent job ensuring that the display is sold with WideVine L1 certification that can be used to stream hi-res content from multiple OTT platforms out there.
Specifications and performance
While the screen’s performance fitted on the Vivo V17 Pro is over par, the same can’t be said for the device’s general performance. Rather than one other element of concentration, it’s in the performance where the V17 Pro doesn’t do itself so many favors.
While the device is sufficiently driven to handle day-to-day jobs and can also be beneficial to light gaming, in addition to browsing the web and sifting through social media and e-commerce apps, it isn’t exactly suited for heavy-duty gaming.
Games such as PUBG Mobile and Asphalt 9: Legends work fine on medium graphics settings but show signs of stress once the visual preset is set to High.
While the high number of RAM – 8GB utilized on the V17 Pro – does aid in ensuring that the phone runs as smooth as it can, it does eventually start to exhibit signs of bottlenecking as a result of Vivo’s decision to employ a Snapdragon 675 chipset – rather than more accessible and powerful chipsets used by phones in the purchase price segment.
Although the Snapdragon 675 remains quite popular with buyers and is generally a strong mid-range chipset, it is no match for the 712, 730, and the 855 SoC that phones cheaper compared to the Vivo V17 Pro, are packing.
That selection of equipment also influences the Vivo V17 Pro’s efficiency in benchmark tests. With regards to synthetic criteria, the V17 Pro ratings 509 factors on Geekbench 4’s single-core test. On the multi-core test, the effect was 1649 points. On Antutu, the phone obtained 178022 points.
Cameras
But where Vivo V17 Pro disappoints in key equipment – and the resultant efficiency provided –it will a lot more than change it in photography performance. But produce number mistake, Vivo V17 Pro’s cameras aren’t only strong in isolation, but will also be perhaps the top you’d discover in the purchase price segment. And credit for that would go to how Vivo has been able to pair some powerful cameras with an AI that does a fairly decent job at computational photography.
We have a quad-camera set-up at the trunk, which features a 48-megapixel IMX582 lens. The principal shooter sat beside an 8-Megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and another 13-megapixel telephoto lens effective at shooting 2x optically zoomed-in shots and around 10x digitally zoomed-in pictures.
Battery
Vivo V17 Pro also carries good work forward, having its battery performance. The device comes backed by way of a 4100mAh battery which can be charged quickly with assistance from the 18W fast charger that Vivo packs in the box.
